Jaldoot campaign

Report on JalDoot Campaign

Water, the essence of life, stands as our most vital resource, making its conservation and awareness imperative in our times. Recognizing our role as responsible citizens, we, the students of Unicent from grades 8 to 10, have enthusiastically taken up the CBSE initiative on water conservation and awareness through the “JalDoot” campaign.

To kickstart our efforts, a comprehensive “JALSHALA” session was conducted for all students in grades 8 to 10, led by esteemed educators Mr. Rama Devi, Mrs. Kavitha, and Mrs. Suvarchala. This session explored deeply into the significance of water conservation, elucidating the water supply sources for Hyderabad, the implementation of Piped Water Supply Schemes, ensuring safe drinking water, strategies for improving water quality, and the importance of rainwater harvesting. The Jalshala fostered interactive discussions and culminated in a creative session where students from grades 8 to 10 penned impactful slogans advocating for water conservation.

From the pool of inspired participants in the Jalshala, 10 students were selected as “JalDoots” and equipped to spearhead the campaign activities. These dedicated individuals zealously engaged in organizing awareness programs, preparing for role plays, puppet shows, and street plays (“nukat natak”). They also crafted visually compelling posters, informative flyers, and pledge forms, striving to disseminate the message far and wide.

Taking their mission to the community, the JalDoots orchestrated a parent-child program, attracting the participation of over 100 families. Setting up campaign stations, they personally interacted with families, enlightening them on various facets of water conservation. They elucidated the workings of Piped Water Supply Schemes, highlighted water storage facilities for GHMC, Medchal-Malkajgiri districts, shared the latest groundwater depletion data as of April 4, 2024, and offered insights into rainwater harvesting techniques tailored for both apartments and individual households. To amplify their impact, they distributed informative flyers, ensuring the message resonated with all.

Recognizing the power of influencing younger children, the JalDoots engaged with younger participants, distributing concise pledge cards and water conservation tips, encouraging them to take the water conservation pledge and contribute their ideas towards the cause.

The culmination of the campaign witnessed a collective water conservation pledge, uniting all participants, families, and educators in a shared commitment to safeguarding this invaluable resource for generations to come.
