Class 6 Butterfly fields activity- Measurement and Motion

Class VI C have done ‘Butterfly Edufields’ activity on the topic ‘Measurement and Motion.’

Activity 1: Making a measuring chain:

With the help of a thread and coins students made an adjustable chain of coins maintaining their palm length between the coins. Using this thread they measured the length of a table. The measurements were different for different students ,which proved that measurement requires a standard unit.

Activity 2: Making a model of sewing machine:

With the help of straws, rubber rings, rubber pieces and stand children constructed a sewing machine. They observed how circulatory motion is converted to oscillatory motion. With these two activities students were able to understand the importance of standard units of measurement and learnt to construct a model of sewing machine.
