Activity by Class 3 – Multiplication as Repeated Addition

Multiplication can be fun and exciting to learn with activities like Grouping different objects into sets. Our class 3 children had been asked to be ready with the material like rajma beans/badam/ groundnuts/ flowers or leaves, color paper, and sketch pens, to do the activity of grouping objects into sets to reinforce the concept of multiplication as repeated addition. For example, to represent the multiplication statement of 3×4=12, students have used their manipulatives into three clearly separated blocks of four either by drawing three circles around them or placing them into three separate boxes. This allows them to visualize the underlying formula of any multiplication question. We also gave a quiz to check the understanding of the concept.
